Product description

Knauf Goldband Finish skim coat is a ready-to-use polymer-based compound, designed to achieve perfectly smooth surfaces on interior walls and ceilings. It is a new-generation product that eliminates the need for the tedious task of mixing powder with water – the compound comes in a bucket with the perfect consistency, ready for application straight away. Thanks to its unique formula, it is suitable for thin-layer skimming of almost any stable building substrate. You can use it both for smoothing new mineral plasters and for renovating old surfaces, including difficult substrates that have been varnished or painted with emulsion paints. It is the ideal solution for those seeking a balance between the highest quality finish and ease and speed of application.

Properties of Goldband polymer-based finishing filler

Unlike traditional plastering compounds, this product offers significantly greater flexibility and ease of use, making it the ideal choice for both professional finishing teams and those carrying out DIY home renovations. By choosing this solution, you can be sure that your walls will not only look good but will also be exceptionally durable. Below, we outline the main advantages of Golband Finish skim coat.

  • Ready for immediate use – the factory-prepared mixture eliminates the risk of errors when measuring out water and reduces the time needed to prepare for work.
  • High ease of application – the compound is exceptionally malleable, which means that applying and spreading it over large areas is quick and effortless.
  • Ease of working and sanding – once the product is completely dry, it allows a smooth surface to be achieved quickly with minimal effort.
  • High durability in use – the finished surfaces are resistant to damage, which ensures the finish will last a long time.
  • Perfect surface preparation – creates the ideal base for the next stages of work, such as painting or wallpapering.
  • Thin-film formula – enables precise levelling of surfaces without the need to apply thick coats.
  • Increased resistance to cracking – the polymer bonds make the filler layer flexible and less prone to hairline cracks or shrinkage cracks.

Scope of application

The versatility that sets Goldband Finish skim coat apart makes it one of the most popular choices for finishing work. This modern polymer-based compound has been designed to provide excellent adhesion to a wide range of substrates, allowing for its widespread use in both new-build projects and the renovation of older properties. Thanks to its optimal consistency, this product perfectly fills microscopic irregularities, creating a smooth base for the final decoration of walls. Applications for this polymer-based finishing compound include:

  • smoothing mineral plasters – ideal for thin-layer filling of clean and stable gypsum and cement-lime plasters;
  • plastering of plasterboard – ideal for levelling the entire surface of structures in drywall systems;
  • renovation of difficult substrates – the compound can be applied to old panelling (varnished surfaces) and stable surfaces painted with emulsion paints;
  • work on resin-based plasters – effective for finishing and levelling decorative plasters with a resin-based texture;
  • specialist underlays – suitable for use on fibreglass wallpaper, ensuring a uniform and smooth finish.

To avoid application errors and ensure the durability of the coating, it is important to bear in mind that the maximum thickness of a single coat should not exceed 2 mm. Applying the coating with such precision allows for optimal drying of the material and facilitates subsequent processing; it is worth noting that average consumption is approximately 1.5 kg per millimetre of thickness per square metre. The product is supplied on KN-WO pallets, which ensures the stability of the packaging and significantly facilitates its safe storage on construction sites.
