Product description

AQUAPANEL OUTDOOR CEMENT BOARD

The 100% panel is waterproof and reinforced over its entire surface with fibreglass mesh.

Product description

AQUAPANEL® Outdoor by Knauf is a cement-based board that is 100% waterproof and reinforced over its entire surface with fibreglass mesh. It is designed for use on external walls, ceilings, soffits and for façade renovation. It is characterised by high resistance to changing weather conditions. As an inorganic product, it guarantees high hygiene standards and eliminates the risk of mould growth. It provides an ideal substrate for plaster and other cladding materials. It is packed on non-returnable pallets.

If you’re searching for a product under the terms „Knauf Aquapanel”, „Akuapanel” or even „Aguapanel”, you’ve come to the right place – they all refer to the same range of AQUAPANEL® boards from Knauf.

Composition and technical properties of Aquapanel panels

The core of AQUAPANEL® boards is made from Portland cement with the addition of lightweight aggregates, and the boards are reinforced on both sides with fibreglass mesh. In the case of AQUAPANEL® Outdoor, the manufacturer also highlights the EasyEdge™ edge technology.

The system’s most important common feature is its water resistance. The boards are not simply the equivalent of standard impregnated plasterboard – their cement-based composition allows them to be used in areas where the material is exposed to constant damp or direct contact with water. Depending on the variant, AQUAPANEL® can also be used outdoors, where it must withstand changing weather conditions.

Certificates and standards – why is Aquapanel ideal for demanding construction projects?

AQUAPANEL® variants have specific fire reaction classes and are accompanied by the manufacturer’s technical documentation. For example, the Outdoor and Indoor variants are classified as non-combustible (A1) in accordance with EN 13501-1.

This is important if you are selecting materials for a building project, a major development or a structure whose specifications must be approved by a designer or site manager. In such cases, it is not advisable to choose panels based solely on their name – what matters is the specific variant and the configuration of the entire system.

Aquapanel Outdoor – for façades and outdoor wet areas

AQUAPANEL® Outdoor by Knauf is a cement-based board that is 100% waterproof and reinforced over its entire surface with fibreglass mesh. It is designed for use on external walls, ceilings, soffits and for façade renovation. It is characterised by high resistance to changing weather conditions. As an inorganic product, it reduces the risk of mould growth and provides a durable substrate for subsequent finishing layers.

It is ideal for erecting external walls in various systems – both ventilated and non-ventilated. It is also suitable for façade renovations and as a solid base for external ceilings and soffits. The board serves as a substrate for plaster and other cladding materials, such as clinker. The manufacturer also confirms its resistance to freeze-thaw cycles.

AQUAPANEL® Outdoor is lightweight for its intended use and can be cut using the score-and-snap method. The board is also flexible – the manufacturer states that it can be bent to a radius of 3 m when used at full size.

Price of Knauf Aquapanel Outdoor boards

The price of an Aquapanel board depends on its type, thickness, size and the number of units ordered. For this reason, we do not state a fixed price in the description – you can find the current price directly on the product page.

At the PK Complex Shop, you can view the available options and use the quantity calculator to tailor your order to the size of your building. For larger projects, orders for construction teams or when purchasing a larger number of pallets, it is worth contacting an advisor to enquire about individual pricing terms.

If you’re not sure which option to choose, take a look at the Knauf Aquapanel systems – the full range – or get in touch with us. We’ll help you choose the right board for your application and put together the materials you need.

How to fix Aquapanel boards – basic installation guidelines

The installation method depends on the type of board and the structure in which it is used. AQUAPANEL® should not be installed using random fittings selected in the same way as for standard plasterboards. Knauf offers dedicated system components, including screws, tapes and joint compounds.

When fixing the panels to the structure, use screws designed for AQUAPANEL® panels, rather than standard plasterboard screws. Panel joints must be sealed using suitable sealants and system tapes. Knauf also offers AQUAPANEL® Board Primer, a primer designed for Indoor, Outdoor, SkyLite and Floor boards prior to the application of the appropriate finishing coats.

Specific requirements regarding the spacing of fixings, the structure of the battens, jointing and finishing depend on the particular system. For larger projects, it is advisable to base the installation on the latest technical documentation from Knauf.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions about Aquapanel Outdoor

How does Aquapanel Outdoor differ from Aquapanel Indoor?

AQUAPANEL® Outdoor is primarily intended for external applications – walls, façades, balconies, ceilings and soffits. It is resistant to changing weather conditions, moisture and freeze-thaw cycles. AQUAPANEL® Indoor, on the other hand, is designed for interior walls and ceilings, particularly in wet and damp rooms.

Is Aquapanel suitable for use in a sauna?

AQUAPANEL® Indoor can be used in applications designed for rooms with high humidity, but the selection of the entire system for a sauna or steam room should take into account the requirements of the specific system. The fact that the board itself is water-resistant does not mean that the entire partition is automatically protected against water vapour. In such applications, consideration must also be given to sealing, joints, corners, service penetrations and suitable finishing materials.

How do you cut Aquapanel boards?

For simple cuts, the board can be prepared using the score-and-snap method, which is particularly convenient for installation work. For more complex shapes, you can use suitable power tools designed for working with cement-based materials. When cutting mechanically, wear eye and respiratory protection and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
