Product description

A carefully selected blend of cement, mineral fillers and modifiers creates a high-quality adhesive mortar that is ideal for use in external thermal insulation systems. Knauf KS 300 adhesive is water- and frost-resistant, making it suitable for outdoor use on buildings in variable weather conditions. The mortar is designed for bonding thermal insulation boards made of white polystyrene, graphite polystyrene and XPS. It can be applied both by hand and by machine, allowing the method of application to be conveniently adapted to the type of project.

  • Wear and tear: approx. 4 kg/m². The product is packed on a KN-WO pallet.
  • Packaging: 25 kg bag.

Knauf polystyrene adhesive – price and uses

Knauf KS 300 is an excellent adhesive for polystyrene, including graphite polystyrene. It works exceptionally well on mineral substrates such as concrete, stone and ceramic elements. It is suitable for use in both new thermal insulation systems and during the renovation of existing façades. The product stands out for its very good vapour permeability and excellent adhesion, which facilitates the installation of thermal insulation boards and results in greater work efficiency. Knauf’s polystyrene adhesive is a solution that combines effectiveness with an attractive price – no wonder our customers choose it so often.

How do you prepare the surface before gluing?

To ensure that Knauf KS 300 polystyrene adhesive achieves full adhesion, the installation area must be properly prepared. This involves the following steps:

  • removal of loose plaster, paint and other poorly bonded layers,
  • removal of dust, dirt and greasy grime,
  • filling in any holes and repairing more serious damage,
  • matting very smooth or powdery areas to increase their roughness,
  • checking the load-bearing capacity and the general condition of the sub-base to prevent the slabs from settling unevenly.

These measures create a solid and stable base, which enables the mortar to be spread evenly and the thermal insulation boards to be securely fixed in place.

Applying Knauf KS 300 adhesive to polystyrene

Manual

The adhesive should be applied to the underside of the polystyrene board in the form of a strip approximately 5 cm wide along the edges and several dots (8–10 cm in diameter) in the centre. Once pressed down, the adhesive should cover at least 40% of the board’s surface. In the case of smooth, plastered substrates, it is permissible to apply the adhesive over the entire surface using a notched trowel (with square or semi-circular teeth).

Machine-made

Knauf KS 300 frost-resistant polystyrene adhesive should be applied using a plastering machine, e.g. the PFT G5, applying the material to the underside of the board along its perimeter and diagonally across the centre, creating a pattern resembling the letters „M” and „W”. The strips should be approximately 5 cm wide, which allows for an even distribution of the adhesive. Once pressed against the substrate, the layer should cover at least 40% of the board’s surface to ensure adequate load-bearing capacity and stability of the fixing.
