Knauf steel profiles for drywall installation

If you’re looking for tried-and-tested, durable structural components for installing plasterboard at a good price – choose Knauf products! We offer steel profiles in various designs, including those with an open cross-section. These components are most commonly used when installing plasterboard during the construction of partition walls or the fitting of suspended ceilings. Are you looking for the right profiles for a specific job? Take a look at all our product types and choose the ones that suit your needs!

Steel profiles for plasterboard – choose the right model

We offer a wide range of Knauf steel profiles for drywall construction, which are suitable not only for installing suspended ceilings or partition walls. These components are ideal for building plasterboard structures such as:

Front walls: used to conceal installations such as water pipes, sewer pipes and electrical wiring within aesthetically pleasing walls.

Acoustic walls: used in offices, conference rooms, music studios and other spaces where noise reduction is required.

Fire-resistant walls: structures with enhanced fire resistance, constructed using suitable plasterboard and steel profiles. Used in areas where fire safety is essential.

External walls: Steel sections can also be used for the construction of external walls in dry-wall systems, particularly in energy-efficient and passive housing.

Housings and covers: such steel profiles are also suitable for plasterboard, which forms the framework for technical enclosures, such as casings for heating and ventilation systems, etc.

Types of steel profiles for drywall installation

    • CW – vertical steel sections, designed for use in wall construction.
    • UW – profiles used when erecting partition walls, as well as when fixing them to the ceiling and floor.
    • CD – steel profiles for suspended ceilings, as well as for constructing structures in attics.
    • UD – used in systems with CD profiles; these are perimeter profiles (known as ‘start’ profiles) which define the layout of the installation.
    • UA – wall-mounted frame profiles, also used in the construction of suspended ceilings or high walls, made from thicker steel sheet.
    • Spring profile – used in loft conversion systems, particularly where greater structural flexibility is required.

The advantages of steel profiles for plasterboard

Greater strength: Steel profiles are more resistant to mechanical loads, which ensures greater stability of the plasterboard system.

Greater resistance to damage: Steel is less prone to dents and cracks, which has a positive effect on the durability of the drywall structure.

Moisture resistance: Galvanised steel is corrosion-resistant, which ensures a long service life.

Lower investment amounts: Steel profiles – for suspended ceilings, walls or other structures – are good value for money compared with aluminium profiles.
