Product description

Knauf CONNI R Kornik – silicone textured plaster with a bark beetle texture

The ’Kornik’ texture is one of the most recognisable and highly regarded façade finishes in Poland — its distinctive horizontal grooves give the building a striking, modern character, whilst perfectly concealing minor unevenness in the substrate. Knauf CONNI R Kornik is a top-class silicone textured plaster that combines a striking appearance with exceptional durability and resistance to everything the Polish weather has to offer. Ready to use and available in the full Knauf Classic ’04 colour range — ideal for both new builds and renovation projects.

What is Knauf CONNI R Kornik and what makes it stand out?

Knauf CONNI R Kornik is a carefully formulated mixture of a water-based silicone dispersion, marble aggregates and mineral fillers, designed for creating „kornik”-style trowelled finishes. Available in two grain sizes — 2 mm and 3 mm — it allows the depth and distinctiveness of the grooves to be precisely tailored to the project’s requirements. The finer grain size (2 mm) produces a more subtle, elegant texture; the coarser grain size (3 mm) yields a more pronounced, expressive ‘kornik’ effect.

Silicone technology guarantees the highest level of resistance to external factors. The render is vapour-permeable, waterproof and UV-resistant, and its self-cleaning properties mean that rain washes away dirt before it has a chance to become embedded in the surface. It can be applied to both polystyrene and mineral wool insulation.

Where is Knauf CONNI R Kornik plaster best suited?

Knauf CONNI R Kornik is intended exclusively for external use — as a façade render in ETICS thermal insulation systems. It is suitable for a wide range of construction projects:

  • facades of residential buildings — single-family and multi-family homes, both newly built and refurbished,
  • wood-framed buildings — in the Knauf Thermo Wood and Knauf Thermo W Wood systems,
  • renovations and thermal insulation — in the Knauf Thermo Duo and Knauf Thermo Duo W systems, where the existing insulation requires improved thermal performance,
  • walls and ceilings of garages and unheated rooms — in the Knauf Thermo W Garage system,
  • concrete substrates and cement-lime plasters — as a top coat in ETICS systems using polystyrene boards or mineral wool.

Knauf CONNI R Kornik – features that make all the difference

Knauf CONNI R Kornik silicone plaster is a product designed for maximum durability and minimum maintenance:

  • Resistance to microorganisms — fungi, algae and mould do not grow on the surface of the façade,
  • Long-lasting colours — advanced pigments that remain UV-resistant for many years,
  • High water repellency — water runs off the surface without penetrating the plaster,
  • Vapour permeability — the walls can breathe freely, without the risk of moisture build-up,
  • Self-cleaning properties — the façade retains its fresh appearance without any additional maintenance,
  • Resistance to changing weather conditions — frost, rain and temperature fluctuations do not affect the expedition,
  • High resistance to dirt — the surface repels dirt and dust,
  • Good adhesion and a long open time — a comfortable working environment for the construction teams,
  • Ready to use — without the need to prepare the mix on site.

Colour range and available grain sizes

Knauf CONNI R Kornik is available in all colours from the Knauf Classic ’04 colour chart, and on special request — also in colours outside the standard palette. The product is available in 2 mm and 3 mm grain sizes, in handy 25 kg buckets, in white or in a version suitable for tinting (base A). The wide colour range of Knauf Classic ’04 allows the façade colour to be perfectly matched to any architectural design.

If, after application, the colour needs to be evened out, it is possible to paint the surface with Knauf Silicone Levelling Paint — but not until at least 7 days after the plaster has been applied. White plasters painted in the final colour require at least two coats of paint.

How do you prepare the substrate and apply Knauf CONNI R Kornik plaster?

Before application, the substrate must be load-bearing, compact, dry, sound and clean — free from dust, oil, bitumen and other substances that impair adhesion. Layers reinforced with fibreglass mesh (after a minimum of 3 days), as well as concrete and cement-lime plasters-lime plasters (after a minimum of 28 days, moisture content ≤ 4%) must be primed with Knauf Putzgrund in a colour matching that of the plaster.

Stir the contents of the bucket thoroughly before use — it is essential to use material from the same production batch, as this ensures a uniform colour and texture across the entire façade. If necessary, the consistency can be gently adjusted with clean water, adding a maximum of 1%. The plaster is applied with a stainless steel trowel to the thickness of the grain, and the characteristic bark beetle texture is formed using a plastic trowel. Work should be carried out at temperatures between +5°C and +25°C, in dry conditions, avoiding surfaces exposed to strong sunlight and strong winds. Protect the fresh render from rain and excessive drying for at least 24 hours; in conditions of high humidity and low temperatures, this period may be extended to 3 days. It is recommended to use covers on the scaffolding.

Why choose Knauf CONNI R Kornik?

Knauf CONNI R Kornik is a tried-and-tested, certified silicone plaster for developers and contractors seeking a combination of the classic, striking ‘kornik’ texture with the highest level of technical resistance. By choosing Knauf CONNI R Kornik, you are investing in a façade that will protect the walls for decades, repel dirt and delight the eye with its intense colour and flawless texture.
