Product description

Knauf Mosaic – mosaic plaster for plinths, interiors and façades

Plinths, pillars, stairwells and corridors — these are areas that are subjected to immense stresses on a daily basis: damp, impacts, heavy use and changing weather conditions. Knauf Mosaic is a mosaic plaster designed specifically for such surfaces. It combines exceptional durability with rich aesthetics — available in as many as 84 colour combinations, it creates a mosaic effect that retains its original appearance for years to come. The product is ready to use and has been tested for use both outside and inside buildings.

What is Knauf Mosaic and what makes it stand out?

Knauf Mosaic is a mosaic plaster based on a specially formulated silicone-acrylic resin, enriched with high-quality coloured aggregate. This combination makes the product highly resistant to water and frost, whilst retaining its colour intensity for many years. Available in two aggregate sizes — 0.8–1.2 mm and 1.0–1.6 mm — it allows for the precise selection of texture to suit the character of the surface and the project’s requirements.

Knauf Mosaic is available as a ready-made colour composition (48 variants in 25 kg buckets) or as a component — a semi-finished product for making your own mosaic plaster in combination with Knauf aggregate. This flexibility allows the product to be adapted to any type of project — from standard finishes to projects requiring bespoke colours.

Where is Knauf Mosaic mosaic plaster best suited?

Knauf Mosaic is primarily designed for surfaces exposed to damp and heavy use. It is ideal wherever standard decorative plasters fall short:

  • plinths, pillars and foundations — protected against water, mud and mechanical damage,
  • stairwells and circulation routes — resistant to scrubbing and frequent cleaning,
  • heavily used interiors — wherever surfaces are particularly prone to soiling,
  • facades in ETICS thermal insulation systems — as a plastering system in the Knauf Thermo and Knauf Thermo Wood ranges,
  • a variety of building substrates — concrete, cement-lime plasters, plasterboard and gypsum fibreboard, as well as gypsum plasters.

Knauf Mosaic – features that win you over

Knauf Mosaic mosaic plaster is a product that makes no compromises — it combines aesthetics with functionality to an extent that is hard to expect from standard plaster finishes:

  • Water resistance — effectively protects the substrate from damp and water penetration,
  • Resistance to frost and changing weather conditions — works well in the Polish climate all year round,
  • Resistance to impact and abrasion — ideal for heavily used surfaces,
  • High resistance to dirt — a surface that is easy to keep clean,
  • Good grip — it probably adheres to a variety of surfaces,
  • Long open time during processing (approx. 30 mins) — a comfortable working environment for plastering teams,
  • Ready to use — without having to prepare the mix on site,
  • Suitable for indoor and outdoor use — one product for many uses.

Colour scheme and available options

Knauf Mosaic offers one of the widest colour ranges of any mosaic plaster available on the market — as many as 84 colour combinations, including a silver variant. Ready-mixed colours are available in 25 kg buckets. For larger projects or those requiring non-standard colour–aggregate combinations, Knauf Mosaic is also available as a component (7.5 kg bucket) to be mixed with selected Knauf aggregates in 25 kg bags.

Thanks to such a wide range of products, Knauf Mosaic fits perfectly into any architectural project — whether classic or modern.

How do you prepare the substrate and apply Knauf Mosaic plaster?

Before application, the substrate must be sound, compact, dry, level and clean — free from dust, oil, bitumen and other substances that impair adhesion. The priming method depends on the type of substrate: plasterboard and gypsum plasters require the use of Knauf Universalgrund, followed by Knauf Putzgrund; layers reinforced with fibreglass mesh (after a minimum of 3 days) and concrete and cement-lime plasters (after a minimum of 28 days, moisture content ≤ 4%) — Knauf Putzgrund in a colour matching the plaster.

The contents of the container must be mixed thoroughly and the colour checked before application. Plastering work on a single, defined surface must be carried out continuously, without interruptions — this ensures a uniform texture and colour of the finish. Apply the mixture evenly with a stainless steel trowel to the specified grain thickness, then smooth it with a steel or plastic trowel before the surface begins to dry out. Work should be carried out at temperatures between +5°C and +20°C, in dry conditions, away from walls exposed to strong sunlight. Protect the fresh render from rain until it has fully set.

Why choose Knauf Mosaic?

Knauf Mosaic is a mosaic plaster that is perfectly suited to spaces requiring both aesthetic appeal and durability. Whether you’re finishing the plinth of a new house, renovating the façade of a commercial building or looking for a durable solution for high-traffic interiors — Knauf Mosaic will deliver a result that will impress today and stand the test of time.
