Knauf AQUAPANEL® Floor This is a cement-based underlay board, just 6 mm thick, designed for creating underlays for ceramic, mosaic and stone tiles on wood-based panel substrates. The Portland cement core, reinforced on both sides with fibreglass mesh, ensures that the board is waterproof in 100% and resistant to fungi and mould – permanently and without exception. Low-profile flooring – where thickness is crucial
When renovating a bathroom, kitchen or hall, you often come up against the same problem: the tiled floor is higher than the adjacent room, which has carpet or laminate flooring. Traditional cement screeds add 5–8 cm to the floor level and mean that thresholds have to be replaced or doors cut down. AQUAPANEL® Floor, 6 mm thick solves this problem – it is so thin that, once the tiles have been laid, the floor remains practically at the same level as in the adjoining rooms. A seamless transition, no extra work, no thresholds.

Installing AQUAPANEL® Floor – step by step
Installing AQUAPANEL® Floor panels is quick and does not require any specialist tools. The subfloor must be made of OSB 3 boards, P5 chipboard or tongue-and-groove plywood.

Priming the substrate
Apply AQUAPANEL® Board Primer (diluted 1:1). Leave to dry for at least half a day

Bonding boards
Apply C2/S1 flexible adhesive and lay the panels with an overlap relative to the substrate (minimum overlap 200 mm). Start from the corner of the room and work towards the exit.

Screw fixing
Fasten with SN 25 screws at intervals of no more than 25 cm in both directions (approx. 30 per m²). Minimum distance from the edge: 15 mm. Expansion gaps between panels: 3–5 mm

Grouting and priming
Fill the joints with C2/S1 adhesive using AQUAPANEL® installation tape (10 cm). Once dry, apply Board Primer (1:2) and the tiles can be laid after 12 hours
Important: Floor tiles should be laid using a flexible C2/S1-grade adhesive. The tiles should not have sides longer than 33 × 33 cm. The substrate must be level – any deviation from flatness must not exceed l/400 of the span length. The deflection of load-bearing joists must be less than l/300 of the span length.

On what type of substrate can AQUAPANEL® Floor be installed?
AQUAPANEL® Floor is designed for installation on wood-based panel substrates: OSB 3 (in accordance with EN 300), chipboard of category P5 (in accordance with EN 312) and plywood (in accordance with EN 636). The substrate must be installed using tongue-and-groove joints or supported at the edges, and must be level with a deviation of no more than l/400 of the span length.
Is AQUAPANEL® Floor suitable for use in a bathroom?
Yes – that’s one of the product’s main uses. The panel is waterproof in 100% and is resistant to fungi and mould, making it the ideal underlay for ceramic tiles in bathrooms, toilets and kitchens laid on wooden subfloors. The cement core does not absorb water, even when exposed to moisture for long periods.
Why is AQUAPANEL® Floor 6 mm ideal for renovation projects?

What is the EasyEdge® system and what does it do?
EasyEdge® is a patented system for reinforcing the edges of AQUAPANEL® panels. The edges of the panels are specially hardened, which protects them from chipping and damage during transport, cutting and installation. As a result, the joints between the panels are even and stable, which has a direct impact on the durability of the entire floor.
