KNAUF G-K START

G-K Start by Knauf is a powdered gypsum-based filler for jointing plasterboard joints using reinforcing tape in interior applications. It is suitable for all types of plasterboard edges and is also ideal for filling and repairing defects, levelling mineral substrates and for use in the Dual Floor dry screed system (also as an adhesive). The approximate consumption for joint filling is around 0.3 kg/m², and the product is packed on a KN-WO pallet.

Knauf G-K Start has been designed to ensure that jointing and repair work proceeds smoothly and predictably. It is a powder-based compound that is easy to mix to a uniform consistency and remains workable during application, making it easier to guide the tool and fill joints. Once dry, it minimises shrinkage and helps to create a stable, crack-resistant layer. What makes it stand out?

• A loose mixture to be mixed – allows you to quickly prepare a portion tailored to the scope of the work.
• A consistent, easy-to-achieve texture – The mixture blends evenly and spreads easily on the wall.
• Plastic application – makes it easier to join panels and carry out spot repairs.
• A layer up to 10 mm thick – enables larger uneven areas and cavities to be filled in a single application.
• Low shrinkage and resistance to cracking – helps to ensure the joint remains even once dry.
• High adhesion to the substrate and the reinforcing tape – helps ensure the durability of plasterboard joints.
• Fire resistance (A1) – an important feature in the context of fire safety.

An additional advantage is that the colour of the compound is similar to that of Knauf G-K Finish, and the unsanded surface achieved after applying Knauf G-K Start does not require priming before proceeding to the final stage in this system.

Application

Knauf G-K Start is ideal for manually finishing joints on plasterboards – on both factory-cut and cut-to-size edges – using reinforcing tape. It can also be used for spot repairs and filling gaps, as well as for embedding corner beads and electrical boxes. The product is also used in the Knauf Dual Floor dry screed system, as well as a base coat prior to further finishing on mineral interior substrates, such as gypsum plasters, cement-lime plasters or old skim coats.
